It was a beautiful day when Karly and Adrian said I’do at Karly’s Grandmother’s backyard this Past May. This story began in college, when Karly, the ever friendly life of the party girl met Adrian, the quiet, shy and reserved guy with an A+ personality, both sharing wedding duties and ardent DIYers, determined to create everything for the wedding if they could. Adrian was hands on in planning the wedding as it was with Karly in that they divided the duties amongst them and conquered it together. They did all of this with me coordinating with both them between the east and the west coast.
The wedding took place overlooking the breathtaking American River that Karly’s Maternal family called home. As with the bride and groom, I had the pleasure of getting to know her Grandmother and Mom who also happened to be a builder, just like Adrian and Karly who were both Civil Engineers.
Karly’s Mom and Grandma were pivotal in making sure the day goes well as they made preparations for the big day, from upgrading the beautiful garden deck to all home improvements, these two wonderful ladies helped all the way.
The week of the wedding was anticipated to be a water puddle occasion with heavy rains. Sure enough it rained all the way…even on Rehearsal day with the large bridal party helping the family with putting up tents and making sure last minute decorations were being made. We were crossing our fingers and praying that on wedding day there wouldn’t be any puddles and oh were we so blessed….IT WAS A PERFECT DAY with sunshine and blue skies.
The backyard was decorated with lights and the surroundings spoke for itself and doubled as decorations with Karly opting for simple centerpieces – Fairy lights and peacock feathers for their tables. The ceremony was set up for immediate family with guests sitting at tables around them. In keeping with their Peacock colour theme, Karly chose to have her bridesmaids in beautiful blue dresses and her maids and matron of honor in purple with Adrian opting for a dark grey suit and the gentleman in a lighter grey.
You must be wondering looking at these photos that there are more girls than guys. Yes you are right. Eyes are not playing tricks. It was a 2:1 ratio. One gentleman escorted two ladies on either hand!

The photobooth was set up by their friends in that it too was a DIY set up.
The couple shared beautiful vows which had us all in tears and enjoyed their day ending with a beautiful song sung by her closests friends and sister having us all surrounding them.
With a scenic backdrop setting, perfect weather, closest family and friends from the east and west, Karly and Adrian’s Backyard wedding in May was a picturesque setting captured by wonderful Sarah of Sarah Dawson Photography.
The beautiful florals were provided by Dolce Floral
It was breathtaking day for a beautiful couple…Thank you Karly and Adrian for allowing us to be part of your day.
Till next time
